The NYC and Upstate New York Poison Centers provide services to all New Yorkers. Poison Centers are valuable resources for questions about possible risk exposures, identifying dangerous substances, medicine safety and more. Poison Centers are staffed by registered pharmacists and nurses certified in Poison Information and are in a unique position to collect real-time data related to suicidal exposures. All calls to the NY Poison Centers are free, confidential, and available by phone 24/7. Translation services are available in 150 languages. To contact the closest Poison Center, call 1-800-222-1222.

New York State Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center of New York (SPCNY) is the lead entity in suicide prevention in the state. Its mission is to promote, coordinate, and strategically advance suicide prevention across the state with the aim of reducing suicide attempts and deaths among New Yorkers. While there is no single solution to preventing suicide, SPCNY combines a clinical and public health approach in its work.
